The Fool and the Wizard
As the journey begins for the Fool, the Magician or more
aptly called the Wizard is the first character he meets. The Wizard is a change-maker,
a prolific teacher and a master of his own field. The Wizard shows the Fool his
potential in manifestation: focusing thoughts and energy to be able to create
something tangible in this world.
This Fool has met people in his life truly qualified as a
Wizard in his or her own right: teachers, mentors and persons in authority. But
truly noteworthy is the real-life Wizard that the Fool met when he was dabbling
in the occult and begun Santeria Filipina. This Wizard from Cubao mentored the
Fool in the arts of divination of both the Tarot and the Diloggun, the Santeria
divination ritual. He walked the Fool through his first guided meditation to
activate his merkabah (Google mo, girl). He prepared the Fool to receive the
mysteries of Santeria: Eleggua, the Warriors and eventually Asiento. (Google
mo ulit: Santeria/Regla de Ocha). He also gave insights to the Fool about
Lihim na Karunungan: anting-antings, rituals and all that good stuff. The
Wizard also helped the Fool use his Tarot reading for healing sessions of the
mind, body and spirit. Eventually, the house that the Wizard maintains was
divided and his “children” wanted to set-up their own ileochas. The Fool was
caught in the crossfire and eventually left the mentorship of the Great Wizard
of Cubao.
Even before meeting the real-life Wizard of Cubao, the Fool was blessed with teachers who guided him along the way of his basic education. From an elementary school teacher who is both like a mother and a friend, to secondary school teachers whose lessons are still well remembered even in his late university years.
In his Protestant years, the Fool may have had mentors too but at this point he is unsure of the lessons he received from them. They may have been inspirational to the Fool during those days but it seems that the lessons that they've taught were only skin deep. The Fool however is grateful to them for starting in him habits of Bible reading, journaling and not being afraid to pray in public.
The Fool considers now that his OCDS (Secular OCD, not the disorder FYI) family especially their Spiritual Assistant as the most recent and prolific Wizards of his life. The witness of the lives of these ordinary people, living ordinary lives in the Spirit of Elijah and of Carmel is a true inspiration. The wisdom and experience that they share especially in Spirituality and Prayer is a guide for beginners like the Fool. Together with the frank yet passionate Spiritual Assistant the Fool feels that his hike up to Carmel will be a fruitful one. (He misses his OCDS family sorely as he is unable to meet with them for a while due to his current situation but he hopes to be back soon to be filled once more of the Spirit and of good food :))
In conclusion, as the Fool meets the many Wizards of life, he learns from them lessons that enrich his intellect, passions, emotions and physical needs and wants. These four aspects are represented as the suits of the Tarot cards which we see on the usual illustrations of the Wizard card. The Wizards of the Fools life give him the guidance he needs in the new beginning of the Fool's Journey.
