The High Priestess: a new look

The High Priestess represents the inner powers of the heart, as opposed to the Magician who relies on the tools of his craft to change the world. The High Priestess changes the world through her own power. She stands for the delicate balance between light and dark, the divine     and the mundane, the creative and the practical.   I have put off writing this for a very, very long time. My initial thoughts was to reference the High Priestess with the great women of Carmel, Teresa of Avila, Therese of Lisieux and Edith Stein. Women who so much contributed to my love for this spirituality. But I ended up with nothing to say really.  Months passed, trying my best to write this post to really share my feelings but ended up with a blank state. Maybe because I was too disillusioned with how I wanted to present myself and my thoughts to the internet. But then came this random person from another universe. Totally alien from mine. He changed the course of the river ...

The Fool and the Wizard

Image
As the journey begins for the Fool, the Magician or more aptly called the Wizard is the first character he meets. The Wizard is a change-maker, a prolific teacher and a master of his own field. The Wizard shows the Fool his potential in manifestation: focusing thoughts and energy to be able to create something tangible in this world. This Fool has met people in his life truly qualified as a Wizard in his or her own right: teachers, mentors and persons in authority. But truly noteworthy is the real-life Wizard that the Fool met when he was dabbling in the occult and begun Santeria Filipina. This Wizard from Cubao mentored the Fool in the arts of divination of both the Tarot and the Diloggun, the Santeria divination ritual. He walked the Fool through his first guided meditation to activate his merkabah (Google mo, girl). He prepared the Fool to receive the mysteries of Santeria: Eleggua, the Warriors and eventually Asiento. (Google mo ulit: Santeria/Regla de Ocha). He also gav ...

Sorry for the delay :(

I am the Fool

Image
I am the Fool. Although now I feel trapped and alone, I feel the direction of the Fool in the cards. I am hopeful and I want to challenge myself with a radical faith to leave this lonely tower. This blog is the first step. At least I am able to go out relive my past and be at the moment and look forward to a favorable future. After a difficult diagnosis, I thought I can get through with this on my own. I was totally wrong, I suffered through my disease with unending doctors’ appointments, doses of medicines I did not know was possible, and a feeling of weakness I cannot explain. I thought I had a lot of friends, I asked for help but only a few came running. I saw the real-ness of my friendships. Feeling hopeless, I phoned my younger sister and asked for their help. I came clean. I felt the support of my whole extended family just like the old times. Some still scolded me and some didn’t want to see how the disease ate me away. I felt loved. Paired with the support of th...

The Madman, The Fool: Interpretations in Tarot

Image
Traditionally called the Madman in French Tarot cards, the Fool was represented as a vagrant, a beggar a person without purpose. But modern Tarot renditions, from the classic Rider-Waite deck to Spirit Science’s Patch Tarot show a young man ready to go on a journey. Most Tarot card readers agree that the Fool represents Innocence, Spontaneity, Liberation, Impulsiveness, Possibilities, Hopefulness and Creativity. It’s a mix of the positive and negative attributes of a young traveller open to the road ahead. These are general ideas usually from intuition or written guides that suggest ideas to the Tarot reader but let’s look at the most common symbols on Tarot decks to gain a better understanding what the makers of the cards want you to see. The Sun The sun represents Divine guidance and grace. It showers its rays upon the Fool to purify, to edify and to bless. Yellow or gold usually represents abundance and happiness. The Travelling Bag The bag contain...

The Fool’s Travelling Bag: where he came from, where he is now

Image
The Fool is shown here in classic array. His travelling bag on his shoulder usually interpreted to be past experiences he brings to his new journey ahead. The Fool was a dreamer. He wanted to change the world: be a doctor and find a cure for cancer. He was not bad academically: getting through the rigorous examination and evaluation of the University of the Philippines. But the dreamer remained in his dream-world. He experienced the ecstasy of life. His dream-world expanded to lovers and friends and faces he cannot even name. This was beyond him. The dream-world made him insatiable, always looking for the next lover. One may not even be enough for him. But why all of these? He was brought up well, given a good education and even flourished in a Protestant sect. He saw himself as a non-conformist: someone who will not just follow blindly. He found his rebellion a way to be just that. Funny how years from the rebellion, his actions will bind him practically useless. ...

Why now?

Recently amid food and the joy of a family get-together, I got some advice to re-kindle my dead love for writing: to pass time, to keep the mind working, and to change things in my dreary life now. I dunno. I felt so uninspired. So dry. Sooo normal. But I kept the advice, pondered and thought. I went about my usual youtube surfing. Lo! and behold! My inspiration. Although food, history and travel are things I'd like to write about too, spirituality has started the fire of the muse in me. I've been following a youtube channel since 2011 called Spirit Science. It's talks about New Age Spirituality so I take it with a grain of salt. Sometimes truckloads when it comes to aliens and other weird stuff. But the spirituality is very basic: trying to achieve ascension through the goodness of the heart. In this case, I'd like to focus my understanding and comparison of New Age and Qabalah to Carmelite Christian Mystical Theology. This will challenge me to read more of Our Hol...
